K-LOVE Radio Network Pledge Drive

Opens:

Think of all the things you like to talk about…
Your favorite restaurant…the name of your new salon…
The great sports camp your kids went to…and Positive, Encouraging K-LOVE.
And, because you talk about K-LOVE, more people hear, more lives are changed…and that’s what we like to talk about. (tag)

When you were young, you wanted to be a superhero…you wanted to change the world. You were Superman, or Wonder woman…
And every animal in your yard was safer because you were there.
Today, you can go beyond the backyard…and help change the world… one hour at a time.
Your $40 a month pledge will cover one hour of broadcasting on K-LOVE.
You give…People listen… lives are changed…
you really become a superhero, and no cape required. (tag)

Listen to K-LOVE for 5 minutes…and chances are you’ll hear your favorite music and some encouraging words. Listen for an hour and you’ll hear MORE great music…but in that SAME hour, an average of 26 people reach out to a K-LOVE Staff Pastor for prayer. One hour is all it takes. Your $40 a month pledge makes one hour possible. (tag)

Appointments are made…calls are returned…you hug your kids one more time…a lot can happen in an hour.
When you support one hour on K-LOVE, people find hope…the lonely find love…the lost find direction….(stop) oh yeah, and we play great music. Your $40 a month pledge makes one hour possible. (tag)

When was the last time someone asked you for help? For us, it was just one hour ago. Because of your gifts, people right here are getting the help they need. And through your gifts, air time is made available to ministries who meet the needs of people around the world. Your ongoing $40 a month pledge supports one hour on K-LOVE. (tag)

VIDEO from script 'Birth of a Spot'

Radio Network Event Video Script

Birth of a Spot

Background:

Old 40’s/50’s era industrial video feel with very typical male narration/ no speech in background footage. All frames black and white until final spot is born. Old film grain titles open each scene.

Scene 1: The Birth of a Spot
Graphic1/2: Movie countdown/film grain effect followed by 50’s picture of people gathered around old radio.
Title 1: “The Birth of a Spot”
Narrative: What exactly IS Creative Services? Well, creative means ‘marked by the ability to create’ and, ‘services’? Well that means the function of serving. And, here at EMF, that translates into a swell department of folks who do some very creative things to serve our audience. A good portion of those things include creating ‘spots’. A spot is a very special part of a radio network like EMF. We here them here every day….those entertaining, sometimes even funny little snippets. But, just how do those Creative Services folks create them?
Graphic3: Old picture of scientists in lab coats with masks and beakers.
Narrative: This select group of professionals works deep underground in their secret laboratories, sometimes going hours without sunlight or nourishment, tirelessly toiling until each spot comes to life. Today we’ll take a journey through the Creative Services Department and experience for ourselves, ‘the birth of a spot’.

Scene 2: Conception
Title2: “The Idea Factory”
Footage: Creative arts staff in cafeteria brainstorming fruitlessly until Frank come in with tray of Starbucks and suddenly everyone has tons of ideas.
Narrative: Each spot begins as a few directives on a page but will culminate in something completely different. Responsible for the creation of hundreds of spots, the Creative Services Team knows that each spot must begin it’s life with a good idea. What! No good ideas? Wait! That’s better! The idea process requires just the right conditions to encourage what will later grow into ‘The Spot’.

Scene 3: Copy
Graphic: “Spot Gets a Name”
Footage: Everyone eagerly, like expectant parents, waiting around the printer for the finished script to print. Close up on spot name. Cut to adoring faces of group.
Narrative: Once the idea has been conceived and the details meticulously hashed out, our little spot is now ready to be given shape, to be given character….and to be given his very own name.

Scene 4: Development
Graphic: “…and His Very Own Bed”
Footage: Creative arts staff (more than one) painstakingly going through disc after disc looking for the right sfx and beds, throwing bad choices behind them in a frantic search for just the right one.
Narrative: Now our little spot needs a bed….a MUSIC bed. Just like a baby, our spot needs a special place, made just for him. Without the right bed, his message will be unclear, and his purpose will be defeated. But, thanks to the work of Creative Services, this little spot will never feel left out in the cold. No, he will be wrapped securely in just the right audio blanket where he will grow and flourish.

Scene 5: Production
Graphic: “Spot Finds a Voice”
Footage: Staff taking turns trying the read…Red light/buzzer for ‘no’, Green light/ding for ‘yes’.
Narrative: Now comes a very important time in our spots development….spot is about to get a voice! Only the right voice, with the right timbre, pitch and quality will ensure spot’s voice is the BEST voice spot can have. A tall order? Indeed! But not too tall for our Creative Services Team.

Scene 6: Production 2
Graphic: “Spot Develops a Personality”
Footage: Frank in Prod8 – close up’s of Pro Tools Session, wiping sweat from his brow as he frantically edits.
Narrative: Our spot may seem almost complete, but now comes perhaps the most important time in Spots development. Spot must now be given a personality. This will require some hard work in the laboratory; through careful editing, detailed tweaking and adding just the right dash of this and the dab of that, until…

Scene 7: The Birth of a Spot
Graphic: “A Spot is Born”
Footage: Creative arts staff anxiously peers into Prod8 awaiting the finished product. The door opens – fade to full color graphic introducing spot while spot plays.
Narrative: “Our Spot is Born!”
Audio: Spot begins playing – fades to remainder of narration – big finish.
Narrative: So you see, a simple spot is not so simple once you see what goes into it. So the next time you turn on your radio and hear what you think is nothing more than a little 60 second blip, remember there are thousands of spots waiting to be born, and the tireless commitment of those qualified folks in Creative Services will make their arrival on time, on budget and teaming with life!
